The Harvest 22 September

We met today at 11am and did some weeding and harvested a lot of the vegetables. We harvested carrots, onions, beetroot, turnips, maze, herbs and chillies. Some of the vegetables were taken to Seomra Spraoi and donated to the cafe where the cooking collective will be preparing food for the vegan cafe tomorrow. There will be a presentation about the garden tomorrow in Seomra Spraoi at 5.30pm.

Sunflowers

The Garden

After all the rain the vegetables grew really well. This is the garden in full bloom.

Table for the garden

Ralph and Helder built a table from palettes for the garden in late July. Here is an image of both of them resting and absorbing one of the precious days of sunshine. The table is given approval by our neighbour Tim.

Tuesday, 7th of August

The weather forecast for Tuesday says: A few showers, but mainly dry, with good sunny spells. Assuming that it turns out to be true, I plan to be in the garden from 7pm to 9. (I have a key now!) -- David

Best of luck to Kieran who is leaving Dublin soon to wield a shovel and pickaxe over in France - the French soil better beware! He'll be missed for getting stuff done - and fast! - at the SCR. Bon Voyage!

South Circular Road Community Food Garden Project

The South Circular Road Community Food Garden Project started in April 2007. We have a derelict site on loan from ST Salvage Company that we have converted into a community food garden. This is a continuation of the initial successful Dolphins Barn Community squatted food garden that was on the canal from 2005 -2007.
