Seed Saving Wednesday

Regular Gardening will be on Wednesday from 3pm for those that can't make Saturdays. Dot and myself (Seoidin) gardened today, we did a lot of weeding around the spinach and strawberries. We collected seeds off the Nasturcians. This is the first year that we have started seed saving in our garden, which is exciting. Beans and peas are drying in the shed and Willie printed and designed seed packets for the garden. Sister Timothy and Sister Deepthy called to say hi and had a tour of the garden.

Art intervention in the garden: The Fog

Fog is a participatory artistic intervention work intended to be developed in the landscape. The large fog banks that move across the landscape are the actual starting point of this project. The artist, Marta Fernández Calvo, has created a "portable fog kit" from different photographs of fog taken in Dolomitas (Italy). The Fog was in the garden on the 26 June 2008.

Community meeting 27 May

We hosted a meeting on the 27 May on 'Healthy food for Dublin 8'. We initially met in the Parish Centre in Rialto where Annie had prepared a delicious beetroot salad. Everyone who attended received a couple of sunflowers from our last years seed harvest. We then walked up to the Garden where Willie gave a compost workshop and we all shared food growing tips and advice.

January 2008

Gardening for the next few weeks is on Saturdays at 12 pm. All are welcome. Here is a map so you can find it . . its on the corner of South Circular Rd and Place avenue in Dolphins Barn, Dublin 8.

South Circular Road Community Food Garden Project

The South Circular Road Community Food Garden Project started in April 2007. We have a derelict site on loan from ST Salvage Company that we have converted into a community food garden. This is a continuation of the initial successful Dolphins Barn Community squatted food garden that was on the canal from 2005 -2007.
